Unveiling the Iconic “Sex and the City” Theme: A Musical Journey

This is for the television series because that is what started it all, and it was a truly incredible beginning! Actually, wait—a book started it all! And, for the first time in the films, the theme song is a grand, reworked version of the television theme.

The song in question is simply referred to as the “Sex and the City Theme,” and it was composed by the amazing American composer Douglas J. Cuomo! Guess who originally recorded it? Mark Berman on keyboards! However, in the original and official soundtrack—of which the franchise has released a lot—the theme song is an amazing version by Groove Armada, an incredible electronic music duo from England. I’d love to know if the same one used in the show is available commercially!

Sex And The City Full Theme Song

The incredible soundtrack of the first film is a version by The Pfeifer Brothers. And the best part is that it includes an orchestra!

As I said, there are tons of music releases out there for this franchise! I’ve already found six, at least two for the series and a separate soundtrack and film score for each of the two films. But the two songs I mentioned above are the only commercial releases and versions of the theme song that I know of.

Check out the music-only video of Groove Armada’s take on the theme, as included in the series’ official soundtrack (volume 1)!
